It is changing its sets but how would i know if its really changing or switching to another sets if it doesnt show on the inventory, since it doesnt change at all.

Why don't you put your switch on a key which is easy for you to reach rather than holding ALT?

You could check the 4 available icons of the items on the skill list or keep your inventory and put it on the side while playing.

And when you switch you will see the item in the box you're switching changes.
So pretend you're using Red winter it's red and change to AP example COW set.
When you switch from dr ( you will see COW set first from your quick switch box the set you planning to switch to) and when you hit the key where you put it in (F12 for example) you will notice it changed from the COW set to red winter set and when you check you inventory you will notice you are equiped with the COW set.
That results in as you had switch your set.
But be smart when you organise your skills and switches.
